After fake encounters, armymen fake RDX

Troubles for the army in Jammu and Kashmir do not seem to end. After instances of fake encounters to get rewards there has been a startling revelation that a former armyman in association with Army’s intelligence department planted sand in place of RDX to get rewards in Jammu and Kashmir. The conspiracy got exposed when police in Jammu seized some apple packets, which had holes to store some black material. These materials were claimed to be RDX. Detonators were attached to these packets. People in adjoining areas were terrified when they heard about the seizure of the so-called RDX. Police have nabbed four persons in this connection alongwith a stone dealer. According to sources from home ministry, the seized materials after thorough inquiry and forensic report were found to be sand. Wires and detonators were attached to give an impression of a country-made crude bomb. However, during investigations the stone-dealer broke down and narrated the whole story.

Based on the dealer’s input, Mahboob Dar, ex-armyman Ramkrishna and Mohammed Rafi have been arrested. The dealer disclosed that he had supplied “denotators” to Dar in the past also. He divulged that Rs 60,000 was the “fees” settled for planting fake explosives.

Northern command spokesperson JS Brar said, “It is requested that Western Command be approached for the same, as it does not pertain to our area.” Efforts to ascertain facts from the Western command did not yield any result as there was no reply to SMS sent by mediapersons to Brigadier General Staff. This incident came closely on heels of killings in cold blood of three youths four months ago in Machil sector which led to enquiry in which an Army Colonel, two majors and six soldiers were chargesheeted. Arrest of Ramkrishna has made security officers quite upset because in the past he used to play crucial role in such seizures. Dar and Rafiq are special officers (surrendered militants) in Jammu police and they have been suspended. And still we retain Armed Forces Special Power Act!
