National media virtually ignored the blast at Nadwa
The blast was powerful enough to create a large pit and damaged the gate’s pillar. The news of the bomb attack spread like wild-fire and high police officials including SSP Habibul Hasan and CO along with a police team etc reached the spot. Some other people who were nearby also saw a man throwing the bomb and running away but because of insufficient light at the time they could neither recognise him nor could they catch him. The police found some splinters, sutli (rope), ammunitions etc which they took away for examination and testing.
Though no one died nor was much destruction caused, many important milli organisations and leaders strongly condemned this bomb attack and took Akhilesh Yadav government to task for not preventing such incidents, and not catching communalists and perpetrators of these crimes. Religious leaders like Mufti Abul Qasim No’mani, Rector of Darul Uloom Deoband, Maulana Muhammad Salim Qasmi of Darul Uloom (Waqf), Maulana Yaqoob Bulandshahri, President of All India Deeni Madaris Board, Maulana Ghulam Muhammad Vastanvi, Maulana Badruddin Ajmal of Assam and many others strongly condmned this cowardly act which must have been perpetrated at the behest of communalists. Maulana Yaqoob Bulandshahri, while condemning this incident said that the national media virtually ignored this incident but had the bomb been thrown at some Hindu organisation's premises, all the media and police would have started blaming some fictitious or real Muslim organisation and large-scale arrests of Muslim youth and combing of Muslim localities would have started but in this case the so-called national media maintained silence. Other leaders, while criticising Akhilesh Yadav government for its inability in reining in communal elements, noted that so far no one has been held for this crime.
Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav personally visited Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama on 5 May along with one of his cabinet colleagues and principal secretary Rakesh Garg. While expressing his regret over this incident, he directed Garg to set up a police post near the bank of the Gomti river (where the Nadwatul Ulama is situated), arrangements for street lights, and close circuit TV cameras be installed at both its gates. He directed him to get all these things done immediately, without waiting for floating of tenders and getting quotations. He assured Nadwa rector Maulana Rabey Hasani Nadwi and other authorities that those guilty of the bomb attack or its sponsors would soon be behind bars.
Commenting on these directives of the chief minister to his special secretary, Maulana Yaqoob Bulandshahri said that mere setting up of a police post and installation of CCTV cameras etc will not do any thing unless serious and sincere efforts are made to strongly deal with the communal and anti-social elements who are becoming bold and fearless day by day because of the lax administration.
